The Land Of The Realm
---------------------
o PLAYER'S GUIDE o
- Introduction -
Many eons ago, in the land of the emerald rains, the people
of the lands of the Krystal Palace lived in splendor, blessed
with the graces of the Master of the Realm. For they were the
earthly guardians of the Staff of MOTR, a mystical rod, topped
with a platinum orb, and studded with the jewels of a thousand
goddesses. The land was truly blessed in splendor and riches.
There was however, a band of mischevious gnomes, on a trek
through the countryside, when they came upon the land of the Palace.
Cursing the dwellers of the land for the good fortune they enjoyed, the
gnomes set about the task of casting evil spells and subjecting the
people of the Palace to wicked pranks and tricks.
The people of the land soon became discouraged and began
believing that the Master of the Realm had turned his back on
them. And there was residing in the dark forests, an evil
one, named Jhared-Simn, who longed to reside in this rich
land. But the people, fearing retribution from MOTR spurrned
him, never before allowing him to enter their paradise.
But in this wake of misfortune, the people of the land turned
to the evil one, in bargain, with agreement to allow him
entrance to the Palace were he to rid the land of the trouble-
some gnomes. At this he agreed, knowing full well that his
power over the forces of good would stand better within the walls
of the palace. And so, upon completion of his task, the evil
Jhared-Simn took residence in the Palace.
But the foolish people of the land, while over indulged in song and
revelry, were oblivious to the fact that the Staff of MOTR, and
Jhared-Simn, dissapeared. At this, The Master of the Realm cast
the land into darkness and despair. And the curse remains...
...even to this day.
The Game Objective
------------------
The Staff of MOTR was stolen by Jhared-Simn. With it in hand, he had
the power to construct an insane complex of labyrinths and passages in
a dungeon beneath the Krystal Palace. The powerful staff has been
hidden somewhere on the 10th level of the maze. It is your task to
brave the perils of the cursed dungeons and retrieve the Staff to
restore the blessings of MOTR to the land. But that is no easy task !
You must not only contend with the perils of the dungeons, but it's
viscious inhabitants as well. There are traps, pits, and perils at
every turn.
* The following is a description of the Land and its features. This *
will acquaint the new warrior with the options available.

MAIN MENU
[T]raveller's Tavern
This is where a starting or tired adventurer can go to grab
himself a bite of nourishing food, some ale, catch up on the news
or just pass the day away playing the one armed bandits.
[I]nn of Yosemesch
The Inn is well known for its services that it provides the weary
adventurer. Yosemesch services include: a trading post, healers,
training grounds, a bank, and other miscellaneous services.
[A]rena of Darkness
The Arena is as good as place as any to challenge the mightiest
warrior in hopes of obtaining the things that he/she has acquired
along the way. The City Council, however, frowns upon those that
choose to set up camp in the Arena.
[W]izard's Labryinth
The last known whereabouts of Jhared-Simn. It is believed that
Jhared disappeared into the Labryinth along with the Staff of MOTR
in the hopes that his elaborately placed traps and monsters would
prevent anyone from following him.
[Y]our Current Status
This option displays such things as your current level, amount of
gold being carried, weapon and armor possessed, combat statistics,
and experience points. Everything that you always wanted to know
about your character and just didn't know how to ask.
[O]ther Adventurers
If it must be known, this is where to find it. An adventurer can
find out almost anything he'd like to know about another
adventurer, given that the price is right. Even the color of his
socks.
[N] Your Inventory
Similar to [Y]our Current Status, the [N] Inventory option allows
you to take stock of your spell and magical charm inventory. You
can take inventory at any time.
[R]eroll Your Character
Unhappy with your progress? You'd like to start over? Be our
guest. A simple, painless, but yet efficient method of starting
anew.
[H]istory of The Realm
A brief narrative about the Land and its past.
[Q]uit This Adventure
End the session and return to the Board.
*******************************************************************
TRAVELLER'S TAVERN
[E] Eat a Meal
Having a healthy meal before setting out on an adventure can
go a long way in protecting one's life. Strength and Stamina
are required for success. However, food requires gold. Also,
keep an eye on the Cook, he sneaks in Horse meat every once in
awhile and many a patron has found himself sick.
[H] Have a Drink
There have been a lot of arguments over the benefits of a good
drink. Some say that damage can't be done to one that doesn't
feel the pain, others say, that becoming drunk finds one in the
ditch in the morning.
[P] Play the Nutshell Game
Feeling Lucky eh? Well watch this guy, I've often wondered if
he puts a pea under a shell at all?
[S] Start a Fight
Be careful of whom you pick a fight with. Tis' better to run
away to fight another day than to get your brains beat out, but
beware, running away without a hand on your purse can prove to
be costly.
[R] Read the Palace News
This is where you catch up on the latest headlines. If
something befalls a player whilst in the dungeons, this is
where you'll find it.
[Y] Ye Olde Slot Machine
Matching three numbers isnt as easy as it sounds. But if
you're feeling lucky, give it a shot.
[T] Trade with another adventurer
Feel free to ally with a fellow adventurer and lend a helping
hand, after all, you never know when you might need some help
yourself. All that is required is that you know the player's
user number and that the player isn't currently in the
Labryinth.
[J] Join in a Conversation
Having a hard time keeping the Bard down in you? Here's your
chance to spin a tall tale, or to just warn a player or two of
certain doom. Making a couple friends wouldn't hurt your
chances of success either.
[X] Exit the Tavern
Leave the Tavern and return to the Palace Courtyard.
[L] Listen to the Olde Warrior
For the patient and curious adventurer. Have something on your
mind? Ask the seasoned veteran and perhaps he may be able to
shed some light on the subject... Who knows? With a little
patience, one can learn all sorts of things.
[?] Help
Provides this list of options.
*******************************************************************
INN OF YOSEMESCH
[B]oltac's Trading Post
Here's where an adventurer can, with enough gold, supply
himself with a proper weapon and proper armor. If an
adventurer wants to upgrade his equipment, Boltac will be more
than glad to buy back the unwanted items.... at a discount of
course.
[C]hamber of Destiny
Down on your luck? Little to no gold? Not enough Stamina to
venture into the depths? This room was made for you! Three
doors. Behind one lies strength, behind another lies fortune,
and behind the other, lies ....... the Grim Reaper himself.
Choose carefully, one false step, and you're dancing with a
scythe.
[D]ungeon Status
Keeping up with the activities of the Labryinth can make or
break a seasoned warrior. The stats tell an adventurer what
levels are safe to traverse and what levels aren't, as well as
a number of other useful tidbits that can prolong or enhance an
adventurer's life.
[H]ealing and Repair
The healers of The Realm are quite good. They can handle just
about anything, including damaged armor, broken hourglasses,
and tired bodies. Beware though, for an experienced adventurer
can expect to pay much more for the services rendered.
[L]and Master Stats
The curious traveller may find it interesting to know just
what is going on in the Land. This option displays such
information as to how many other adventurers are playing, how
many deaths have occurred, how many people are currently in the
labryinth, and other useful facts of life.
[M]ost Wanted List
From time to time, characters attempting to retrieve the Staff
go beyond themselves and actually do more harm to the Land than
good. These characters are put on MOTR's Most Wanted List and a
bounty is offered to those characters who are of purest blood
that will seek out and defeat the wanted criminals.
[P]layer Rankings
Here is where you may view your status as seen by MOTR in your
attempts to recapture the Staff. Each day, MOTR reviews the
activities of the Land and ranks its participants according to
their fullfillment towards the goal.
[R]ename Thyself
For those of you who have committed crimes against the Land and
are trying to escape the bounty hunters, this option is for
you! Who knows, you might get lucky and throw the hunters off
the scent.
[S]crolls of The Immortals
A list of the best possible players to ask for advice. These
adventurers know by experience what it takes to conquer ol
Jhared.
[T]raining Grounds
The Realm has an extensive array of trainers. As you gain
experience the trainers are able to fine tune that experience
into a fine fighting machine. With experience, comes more
stamina and survivability.
[V]isit the Fortune Teller
The seer in the tent can, at times, give a keen warrior insight
into the future. Her 'seeings' vary in detail from the
simplicity of sagely advice to the exact location of a perilous
trap.
[W]izard's Chamber
One can find an entire arsenal of learnable spells here at the
Wizard's Chamber. However, the spells don't come cheap. The
Wizard, like Boltac, knows that the more experienced an
adventurer is ... the more profit that can be gained.
[$] Palace Treasury
The Palace Treasury is a good place to store that 'extra' bit
of gold that you might otherwise be lugging around in the
Labryinth. As of date, noone has ever gained illegal entry into
the Vaults, so consider your gold safe .... for the time being.

The Cursed Labyrinth of Jhared-Simn
-----------------------------------
This is the ultimate objective of the adventurer. The
dungeons of Jhared-Simn must be conquered and the staff of MOTR
retrieved. When entering the dungeons from the Palace, you will
find yourself at the base of the stairs leading back to the
Palace. When beginning your trek, it is wise to map your
progress. This makes it much easier to find your way through
the mazes. There are 10 levels to the dungeons, with each level
consisting of 100 or so rooms (Graph paper is EXCELLENT for
mapping your progress.) You will encounter monsters, traps,
creatures, and the like throughout the mazes. Use your wit and
strategy. The staff is hidden somewhere on the 10th level.
---------------------------< General Notes & Tips >------------------------
There are 10 player levels, from the Wanderer, to the Wizard Slayer.
The higher a player's level is the stronger that player will be.
The best way to build up a player is to dash into the maze, fight a few
battles and dash out. Use the tavern and inn frequently as they can be
excellent aids in healing, and knowing what is going on in the game.
If you fall into a trap, remember the way you came in, because that is
usually the way out. Choosing to walk in the wrong direction may set
the trap off a second time.
Make sure you keep abreast of other player's progress on the
Adventurer's Log. You may have the opportunity to get riches, gain
strength, or avoid traps.
You have three visits per day into the Land, each visit lasting 20,
minutes. Use your time wisely, and make your visits count.
If you run from a fight, your map may or may not be any good to you
until you can find your way out of the maze again. Running sends the
adventurer in an unknown direction. The best tip is to run only as a
last resort.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are many hidden features, and things rarely stay the same in the
Realm, so be wise, and play with caution. If you want or need
information, or hints, or just get stuck, ask your fellow players. They
may be able to help you out.
